* Host NOC did not qualify in the events K1 Men and C1 Men, therefore Boat and Athlete Quota Places are provisionally allocated to CHN NOC for those events. In case CHN qualifies at the Asian Qualification Competition, those Boat and Athlete Quota places will be allocated to TOGO in K1 Men and CANADA in C1 Men according to their result at the Global Qualification Competition. If Togo gets the spot at the world championships, Nigeria will take the qualification place from the African championhsips
Additionally, two Tripartite Commission Invitation places will be awarded.
Second allocation
suntingThe IOC caps the total number of athletes in the slalom competition, which determines the minimum boat quota places listed above. However, an athlete may represent his NOC in more than one event, in which case an additional Athlete Quota Place becomes available. The additional entry is awarded to the next best ranked NOC at the corresponding Continental Qualification for the continent of the NOC that freed a quota place.
The second allocation will be made between June 18, 2008 and July 23, 2008.
If only one Athlete Quota Place is available from a C2M then the best-unqualified NOC in C1M from the same continent will receive an Athlete Quota Place.
