Tarim Basin ialah cekungan endoreik besar di Barat Laut China yang merangkumi kawasan seluas 906,500 km2 (350,000 bt2).[1] Terletak di kawasan Xinjiang China, kadang kala secara metonimi disebut sebagai separuh wilayah selatan, atau Nanjiang (Turki: tarım havzası, Bahasa Cina: 南疆pinyin: Nánjiāng; secara harfiahnya "Xinjiang Selatan"). Di utaranya kawasan ini bersempadan dengan Pegunungan Tian Shan dan bahagian selatannya bersempadan dengan Pergunungan Kunlun di pinggir Dataran tinggi Qinghai-Tibet. Gurun Taklamakan mendominasi sebahagian besar cekungan ini. Nama Uyghur bersejarah untuk Tarim Basin ini ialah Altishahr (六域), yang bermaksud "enam bandar" dalam bahasa Uyghur.
