Donald Trump memulakan kempen pemilihan semula yang luar biasa kerana terlalu awal untuk presiden yang baru memegang jawatan. Pada 7 November 2018, Trump mengesahkan bahawa Mike Pence akan menjadi bertanding semula untuk jawatan naib presiden pada 2020.[15] Pada 18 Jun 2019, Trump mengadakan acara pelancaran kempen rasmi di Pusat Amway di Orlando, Florida.[16]
