FreeSpace 2 Source Code Project
Projek Kod Punca FreeSpace 2 (FreeSpace 2 Source Code Project) ialah projek kumpulan pengatur membuat enjin permainan untuk permainan simulasi pertempuran angkasa FreeSpace 2, dimaju oleh Volition. Kod punca dikeluarkan pada tahun 2002, dan sering digunakan oleh pelbagai projek-projek. Di antara ialah permainan berdasarkan alam semesta fiksyen Babylon 5 dan Battlestar Galactica 2004.

Sejarah
suntingVolition, syarikat yang mencipta permainan video FreeSpace 2 yang dibeli oleh THQ pada tahun 2000. Dengan Interplay Entertainment memiliki lesen bagi siri FreeSpace, Volition tidak pernah menyambung siri itu. Dave Baranec mengeluarkan kod untuk enjin permainan FreeSpace 2 pada 25 April 2002.[1][3] Ini membolehkan pelbagai pengguna untuk mengubahsuai enjin itu tanpa had-had. Tetapi, kerana kod punca di bawah lesen bukan kommersial,[4] ia gagal sebagai perisian bebas dan punca terbuka.
Satu projek (dengan tujuan untuk mengubahsuai permainan) di bawah nama Projek Kod Punca FreeSpace 2 yang ditubuhkan. Di bawah pimpinan Edward "Inquisitor" Gardner, kumpulan ini dipimpin oleh Tyler "DahBlount" Blount, selepas Ian "Goober5000" Warfield, Taylor Richards, Cliff "Chief1983" Gordon and Fabian "The E" Woltermann.
Lesen asal FreeSpace 2 mempunyai kenyataan aneh, yang membolehkan orang untuk membuat salinan untuk kawan-kawan.[5] Tetapi, tak ada kenyataan dalam lesen di dalam komputer untuk semua tiga versi permainan. Tiada kenyataan dalam buku atau lesen diperbaiki permainan,[6][7][8] semuanya yang baharu daripadanya.
